SEAN FRANKEY PHOTOGRAPHY
By Mike James
Photo Editing
Good editing is always intentional and planned. Every image has a version of itself that's better than the raw file, and getting there takes more than a preset and a slider.
My editing process is built around shaping light and drawing out the subject naturally. Working in Lightroom and Photoshop, I use targeted dodging and burning, tone & RGB curve work, colour theory inspired colour grading, and advanced retouching to give each image depth, mood, and clarity without it ever looking over-processed.
Before & After - See the Transformation
Below, you can explore some of my edits in action using the sliders to compare the raw image with the final result.

My Process
Every edit starts with the foundation of exposure, contrast, white balance, and lens corrections. From there I move into colour work, using the tone and RGB curves in combination with the HSL panel to build the image's character rather than just correct it. Where needed I bring images into Photoshop for advanced retouching and light shaping through dodge and burn. Using my years of experience, the final pass is always about purpose, restraint and balance.
Editing Styles
I work across a range of styles depending on what the image (and the client) calls for. Filmic and analogue-inspired edits, clean and modern commercial finishes, cinematic and moody treatments, or natural and documentary. If you have a reference or a look in mind, bring it.
